Randy and Chong have always got along beautifully from the first time they met in the Boston area over five years ago in the summer of 2008 and again when they reconnected about
a year ago in the summer of 2012. Chong’s studies and other circumstances separated them for a while, but after they were reacquainted last August, their relationship naturally progressed
from friendship to a romance—a long distance romance. Randy was a programmer in the Boston area and Chong was an aspiring philosopher living in the Washington D.C. area.
They not only lived hundreds of miles apart, they were also far apart in other ways—by ethnicity, personality, and predispositions. But what they shared in common outweighed their differences and
even their differences seemed to complement each other perfectly. They shared many similar interests, a common faith, and a passionate love for each other. Because Chong and Randy were
committed to making their relationship work, they made every effort to see each other often in Boston, D.C., and places in between like New York City and New Jersey. During one of his visits to D.C.,
Randy popped the question and Chong said “yes.” Chong recently moved to Massachusetts, where she was able to find a job, and the two were married in southern New Hampshire. The two are no longer separated
by distance and differences, but united: one in marriage.
